The snow is endless fun...  Always a treat to be the first class to make their mark on the playground after a storm!

Chinese New Year

On Monday, our community gathered to share a meal together in celebration of Chinese New Year.  A very special thank you to our Friends at the Chinese American Friends Association of Maine for speaking about Chinese New Year during our meal.

A heartfelt thank you to all of the many helping hands that helped make this meal run so smoothly.  Merci!

Language in our Lives

This week we concluded our 'Language in Our Lives' unit in English Class, where students reflected on the languages that are a part of their lives.  During the final class, students shared information gathered from interviewing a family member as well as making a 'language self-portrait'.
Huge thank you to Michael Erard (linguist, writer and proud parent of Iver) who created this unit of study with Kelly. Merci Michael!

Thank you Dr. King

This week in English Language Arts students celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Our older students listened to and discussed Dr. King's historic speech delivered at the March on Washington on August 28, 1963: "I Have a Dream". Younger students were inspired by a biography about Dr. King to write about their own dreams for our world.

Yesterday was an observed holiday honoring the achievements of Martin Luther King, Jr., the chief spokesman for nonviolent activism in the Civil Rights Movement to end racial segregation.

Thank you Dr. King

Visitor Information Center Field Trip

Last Friday, 3rd Grade students enjoyed a field trip to the Visitor Information Center in Yarmouth.  In English Language Arts class, students are learning about the state of Maine and are also researching a specific region in Maine.
Huge thank you to Marcel and his team at the Visitor Center for all of their help and support at this trip!

Tiles, tiles, tiles!

The GS/CP students love working with tiles to enhance their mathematical thinking!

'Language in Our Lives'

This week, students in Grade 3 & 4 English Language Arts class began a very special and personal unit of study.  Michael Erard (linguist, writer and proud parent of Iver) created a unit of study with Kelly titled 'Language in Our Lives'.  Over the course of the next few weeks, students will explore and reflect upon their personal experience with language.  Huge thank you to Michael for spearheading this very special project.
