With Jean-François, the third grade students are currently reading a book called Urashima by Margaret Mayo. This is the story of a young fisherman from Japan who is invited to visit the kingdom of the Dragon King under the sea after he saved his daughter. This is a version of a very ancient tale known throughout the world. The children were interested to learn more about Japan, and they especially enjoyed experimenting with calligraphy, which they explored with simple Japanese words and adjectives using colored ink.
