This is an art project that was done in connection with CM2 history class. Students were learning about the ancient world and specifically Egyptian culture. In art we looked closer into the family of ancient Egyptian Gods.
We talked about the
major myths (Creation of the world, Osiris myth, the journey of the sun, etc).
We also talked about the mummification process and the invention
of hieroglyphs.
In art we discussed how during most of Egyptian history the proportions of the human figure were related to the width of the palm of the hand.
The goal of this project was to create an ornamental tablet out of salt dough and to decorate it with an image of an Egyptian God, respecting Egyptian outlook on human proportions.
