On Tuesday, April 5 the children of grades 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 had the pleasure to attend an educational concert of the Portland Symphonic Orchestra. The classes enjoyed several activities, conducted in both French and English, including discovering the vocabulary specific to the orchestra. The children enjoyed listening to the ensemble of more than 50 professional musicians in an incredible concert room (Merrill auditorium). They learned a lot about the organization of a symphonic orchestra, the different instrument families and what each family brings to the ensemble. For example, we listened to the percussion alone and discovered their richness and diversity: everyone was amazed!
