The kindergarten and grade 1 students went to the Portland Museum of Art. They viewed artworks in 2 and 3 dimensions, figurative and abstract works, paintings of landscapes and portraits, sculptures in marble, stone, and wood (that was painted or burned), and plastic with glitter and even black and white photography! They learned a lot about the life of the artists, their approach to their work, and all the effort that goes into putting up and taking down the displays in the museum. The children had the opportunity to ask plenty of questions, and they shared their many interpretations of the artwork they saw. It was inspiring! Thanks so much to our wonderful (French-speaking!) guides. It was a wonderful visit.
