Wildlife Park in Gray, Maine

Students of first grade and Kindergarten spent a day at the Wildlife park in Gray.  They discovered Maine wildlife living all around that they might one day cross paths with. Thanks to the guide, they were able to touch animal skins, feathers and teeth. Then we went for a walk to see all the animals, including:
lynx, mountain lions, bears, moose, raccoons, deer, porcupines, etc.
Un grand merci to all the chaperones!

At work and play today !

The rain did not stop the kids from keeping busy, learning and having fun, whether reading with friends, building a block tower or making letters with play dough, there is always an activity to enjoy at "l'école".

Portland Symphony Orchestra Youth Concert

Our students were fortunate to attend the sold out performance on October 27th at Merrill Auditorium of Britten's Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra (Fugue Finale)
They listened selectively under the guidance of their music teacher Joelle Morris: the brass, woodwind, string, and percussion instruments on this journey through the orchestra!
Each section plays excerpts from Britten’s classic Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, plus familiar favorites from Harry Potter and Jurassic Park.
Quite a program:
BRITTEN Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra (Introduction)
GABRIELI Canzone septimi toni, No. 2
WILLIAMS Nimbus 2000 (from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone)
BARTOK Rumanian Folk Dances
ROUSE Ogoun Badagris
TBD work by winner of Composition Competition
WILLIAMS Theme from Jurassic Park
BRITTEN Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra (Fugue Finale)

Monarch Butterfly

Students in the Kindergarten classroom have been studying caterpillars and watching them turn into butterflies. The caterpillar tank has been the center of class activities. Throughout this process, we made caterpillar art projects with a variety of materials. Using a paint brush, sponges and strips of colored paper, we made all sorts of caterpillars.

Firefighters visit L’Ecole

To the delight of the children, fire safety week was highlighted by a visit from the Fire Department of Freeport. Firefighters showed the students the equipment and taught them fire safety tips. Best of all, the children were able to get into the fire truck and were given a souvenir fire hat. Thank you firefighters for this visit and for all you do to keep us safe!

Grandparents & Special Friends Day

Grandparents and Special Friends of students in all grades spent the morning at L'Ecole Française du Maine. After a tour of the school, they enjoyed a choral performance from the preschool - grade 1 led by Music Teacher, Joelle Morris.
Our guests then spent time in their grandchild's classroom where they participated in activities and were able to see first-hand what their grandchildren experience each day. Next, they were invited to sit for refreshments and enjoy more student performances by the upper elementary grade chorus and violin strings students of Shaina Graff.
Parent, Merritt Carey, spoke to the audience about why her family chose an international education for their children and what it means to them. Discussion about the school's mission and programs was presented by Founder and Head of School, Willy LeBihan. Founder and Director of Admissions,

Beth LeBihan, spoke about the Suzuki music program and why Dr. Suzuki's "Mother tongue approach" is such a good fit for the school. It was a wonderful day and the school thanks our parent volunteers, Kristin Casey and Merritt Carey for all they did to make our first Grandparents and Special Friends Day such a success.

This was a great opportunity for the school to thank the grandparents for all they do to support their grandchildren all year long.
Merci beaucoup!
