Bike Coalition of Maine Workshop
Huge thank you to the Bike Coalition of Maine's visit to EFDM! Shannon, an educator from the Bike Coalition of Maine, came to educate our bike trip students about road safety, bike safety, and simple bike maintenance.
As we prepare for our bike trips, please make sure to check your child's bike with the ABC bike check: Air, Brakes, and Chain. Also, don't forget to make sure their helmet fits properly.
Growstown Schoolhouse
Upper grade English Language Arts classes recently visited Growstown Schoolhouse, a 'living history' schoolhouse located in Brunswick, where students participate in a day of school during the nineteenth century where the date wasn’t 2018, but 1853. Students prepared their costumes at home and brought appropriate lunches for the time period.
While at the school, they participated in spelling, reading, memorization, arithmetic, geography, singing, and art, all while writing with a quill pen and ink.

Discovering the flute
Last week, GS-CP students enjoyed a presentation about the traverse flute. They discovered the different parts making the instrument and the role they play in creating a sound, as well as how the instrument is held.
Victorien explained that to create a sound, one does not blow into the flute, but rather should try to blow on a candle in front of them. They all had the chance to try, and we discovered there are some very promising musicians in the class.
Thank you Victorien for sharing your passion!
